Welcome to The United Party.

If you're reading this on a cool and sunny April 1st then you are at the beginning. The United Party was born out of necessity, originally a politically project back in 2022, it was put on pause as most people seemed adamant about wanting to get the Tories out, and were less inclined to look into, or entertain the idea of a new party.
Skip ahead two years and Labour are now in government, but the urgency of an opposition is still there, if not a brand new party for the ballot that 19 million non-voters didn't have before. While it's comforting to know there is some competency back in government, our democracy now faces a greater challenge, hence the urgency; so let's explore that.
There are five things The United Party is being built for, as a matter or urgency
To tackle the problems the UK faces, and those issues that are circled by political choices, but not resolved or actioned by ethical and practical choices.
The threat of misinformation and disinformation challenging our democracy.
The far right threat that has seeped into our politics, which is intrinsically linked to the second point.
The fact that our democracy doesn't appear to have a functioning opposition; irrespective that we have a government that's a improvement on the last, they still need to be held to account. This is also linked to first point in that faith in our democratic system is at an all time low; 19 million people didn't vote in the last general election.
And finally the fifth point is that there are still issues that remain un-addressed, that matter to a lot of people, who are not being heard, therefore as well as being a function to counter disruptors to our way of life, our democracy, misinformation and issues with the media, the party will lead on it's own pledges to campaign for mutual co-operation to promote social progress and better standards of living for all; no one should be left behind.
Now it would be very easy to look upon all of the above as a threat to the Labour government, its work and it's movement, or that we might be yet another factor to fracture future votes, but that couldn't be further than the truth. One of the founding values of the party is mutual cooperation, which is a far better way of politics for cross party support that helps to bring change, and improve lives. That said we will still campaign on an agenda that will do process of politics differently.
With regards to fracturing the vote, well, every party has its core voting base, occasionally they add to this base, by either pulling votes from other parties; swing vioters, enfranchising new voters or even swaying the occasional non-voter. However it can be said there is good ground to be made with those who don't vote at all; those 19 million who didn't turn up to the voting booth, or those that just voted for whoever, simply because they didn't really know who to vote for at all, and voted for someone they hadn't before, just because. That is an abject failure of our democratic and electoral system.
There's a reason for all this, and that's down to communication, conviction and information, or the lack thereof. There are many people who either -
A. Don't trust politicians.
B. Want tangible evidence that things are getting better.
C. Don't feel they are being communicated with.
D. Don't really understand what anyone stands for.
E. Don't feel that anyone represents them or their interests or concerns.
F. Any information they do get unfortunately is borne out of dis-information, misinformation, cherry picked information that doesn't provide the whole picture, or mostly negative rhetoric.
G. Don't fully understand their own complaints about the country, because nothing has been correctly explained to them.
The United Party website, will be building a Forum, from here we will share news, stories, press releases, articles and infographics to make information easy to share and take in. As well as explaining solutions, we will also explain the mechanics of government, parliament, country, the united kingdom; understanding these means that people will be better informed, and that is valuable in a functioning democracy, to empower people with information and re-enfranchise voters.
While politics shouldn't be about image, personality or populism, it does have an image problem in that anything currently said about it maintains the same status quo, it's always a two horse race, other smaller parties never truly get the same treatment by the media, but then never really rise to the challenge (again the argument of 19 million non-voters, why haven't they appealed to them), and to make matters worse those key points and any negativity about our process of democracy is repeated verbatim, by those on social media, in pubs, family households or parties, the work kitchen and so on.
This has to change in order to counter those abusing these shortfalls to capitalise on a broken system, and they are already making gains.
The United Party is about that change; change of perceptions about politics, how information is shared, valid and sourced information at that, accessible information even, but that's only half the battle. The United Party is also about creating solutions, whether something campaigned for, or even actioned in some small way despite not being in office, small actionable changes can make the world of difference to some people, and it's those actions that people will remember and share to inspire those in the voting booth. Given that words have mostly been deemed as empty rhetoric or slogans, actions do speak louder than words, and that would be a great starting point in changing peoples perceptions of politics with selfless acts that make a difference in peoples lives.
The party will also remind people of how our parliamentary and democratic process is supposed work; it's people who hold the power, they extend that power by selecting the person that will represent them and their voice in parliament, and that extension of power is meant for service, politicians are meant to serve you, they provide a duty of care, to protect you, and invest in our futures. Politicians are only as good as the people that inform them; they are supposed to listen, and decisions are made based on that service and interaction. The future is what we make it, it's not a pipe dream or some other worldly utopia, that is how a normal functioning democracy is supposed to work. The fact that people have lost sight of that, is something that needs to be addressed first hand.
And finally what's in a name. The United Party straight away with that name is telling we're about unity, there's more than enough division being peddled in the world, so maybe it's time for a party that's about working together, true human values don't care about whether your left, centre or right; to progress social issues, better standards of living for everyone, needs us all united. Then there is the party logo, an Olive branch symbolic of friendship and reconciliation, cleansing and healing, provision, protection and peace.
